python: cannot import matplotlib._cntr

I have installed CosmoSIS using the bootstrap but it fails during postprocess.

 - 1D plot  cosmological_parameters--omega_m
Failed in one of the postprocessing steps:  <cosmosis.postprocessing.plots.MetropolisHastingsPlots1D object at 0x2ad6aaca9550>
