Can't update M5 board firmware (M5stickC plus,M5Core)

Issue #295 resolved
Sean shao created an issue

I have three stickC plus boards, only one could update firmware from stickC plus factory firmwar by microblocks. Others only showing connecting screen and then disapear.I have the some problem with my m5core board. Only M5Atom matrix firmware update works perfect. I tested it with 1.1.61 and 1.1.81. (mac version)

I tried to use m5burner update microblocks vm, but it didn’t work.

My workaroud is export the firmware from working one and use it to update others by m5burner.

I guess it could be a serial port baud rate issue, but I don’t know how to change it.

There is a hardware issue with the StickC that often prevents it from entering boot mode under software control. You can work around that by connecting pin 0 to ground before you install the MicroBlocks firmware. I've seen the same issue with the some M5 Core boards.

I haven't used m5burner but the same hardware issue might effect that, too.

This is a hardware issue with certain M5 boards. Partly because of this problem we plan to drop support for the M5 StickC, M5 Stick C+, and M5 Atom Matrix in early 2023. After support is dropped, users will still be able to use PlatformIO to install MicroBlocks on those boards.
