Issue #297 resolved
Sean shao created an issue

Updated the pico firmware but the connect button didn’t turn to green. Could see the /dev/cu.usbmodem142201 device.

Test with polit version 1.1.81 mac system.

Make sure that you've installed the correct version of the firmware -- the Pico W firmware will not run on a non-WiFi Pico board.

Try disconnecting and re-connecting the board. In the browser, you need to click the USB ico and select the serial port to connect. Stand-alone apps should connect automatically when you plug in the board.

If you are still having problems let me know. Please mention if you are using the browser version or a stand-alone app and which version of Mac OS you are using.

Yes, I used the wrong version. My pico is just pico no wifi.

When it asked “is this a Pico W (wifi) board“, I said no. Then everything is ok.

The upgrade instructions are confusing to me, I’m afraid to say no to anything. ;)

Great that you got it working! You are not the only one who has found that quesiton confusing.

In the next version, we'll remove the confusing question and include separate entries for the Pico and Pico W in the board selection menu.
