XRP Basic Tilt Sensor lost

Issue #485 resolved
SC Spaeth created an issue

John and I thought we had resolved this issue:

https://bitbucket.org/john_maloney/smallvm/issues/445/i2c-pins-for-the-xrp-board

But in more recent tests, it seems as if we have lost access to the tilt sensing:

Note that the Temperature sensor block reports and is sensitive to changes.

Does power-cycle the board restore operation of the tilt sensor?

Are you running the pico-xrp firmware? If not, that would be the problem. (Remember, I had to build a special version of the MicroBlocks firmware that included support for the accelerometer chip and changed the I2C pins.)

You’ve correctly identified the cause of my problem. The serial port names that the connect dialog provides are nearly indistinguishable so I was using the pilot vm rather than the one you supplied specifically for the XRP.

I got Covid earlier this week and still have some brain fog.

Reminder: upgrade vm_s regularly to stay up with current developments but not if the vm was created to solve another issue.

So sorry you had covid! Hope any lingering symptoms clear up quickly.

I plan to extend our build system to update virtual machines for boards like the XRP that are not built into the IDE but are used regularly. Once that's set up, you'll be able to download the latest virtual machine for the XRP from the "vm" folder in the pilot release folder, which is linked from the Downloads page.
