Bed leveling process leaves an elevated area

I recently followed the bed leveling process as outlined in the FlatCAM manual. However, when I fed the created G-code file in to my CNC machine, I ended up with an area the size of the schematic in the middle of the "painted" area that either wasn't milled as deep, or not at all, I can't be sure which.

I'm not sure if this is expected behavior, but it wasn't quite what I expected to happen.

Let me know if I can provide any additional information on this issue.

I run bed leveling using flatcam 8.4 and the bed is perfectly leveled... I would consider the possibility of some mechanical issue with the test CNC
