Polygon subtraction in 8.995 works differently
Hello Marius,
How Polygon subtraction and paint functions works in new version?
Please check attached screenshots where old FlatCam worked correctly and in new version somehow differently.
Goal is to be able paint different spots excluding solder pads.
Thank you

Hi,
You will have to make an analysis for yourself.
You need to make a very thorough description on what you used to do, what was the result (speaking in FlatCAM terms). Then you will have to describe what you are getting now and what you were expecting to see. -

Hello Marius,
I recorded screencast how It was done in old version, then I repeat steps with new one and get diferent results.
Maybe it is designed that way, but I don’t understand how I can do it correctly.
Please see PolygonSubtraction.webm attachment.
These four pads are for two 0805 SMD resistors, so I’m trying to clean up copper just around these solder pads.Thank you

Hi,
Ok, now I get it. You referred to the old 8.5 behavior. Now-a-days I no longer think to that version so that’s why I did not understood what you want.
But with the posted video I understood and indeed I did changed the behavior a while back for the FlatCAM beta.
I just re-added it as an alternative subtract and in the process I’ve also detected a nasty bug.
Those changes will be available in the next version 8.995.Thank you for the report!
Best regards,

reporter Hi Marius,
Just wanted to ask if it was fixed and when you’re planning new release?Thank you
-
Hi,
I still have to check it in depth but the foundation is done. As for when the new release will be done, that I don’t know. There is a very complicated operation that needs to be done and I am not looking forward to it.
So, since it is not fun and since FlatCAM is hobby … I don’t know when the 8.995 will come out. Safe thing is to assume that it will happen in the beginning months of next year. But who knows, if at some point I just start the work, it may happen sooner. In the mean time, if people will find more bugs then I might fix them.
Best regards,
Marius -
reporter No rush, take your time. Just wanted to know.
Thanks again. -
Ok, I just have done the final touches and now the subtraction/intersection in Geometry Editor work as intended.
Those changes will be available on v 8.995. -
reporter Excellent.
Thank you Marius!
