For others (such as myself), it does work:
Fisheye: Confluence:

http://confluence.server/confluence/rest/cas/1.0/avatar/server/markbei
returns a default instead of the actual avatar.
-
repo owner You need to use a hash of your email to get your avatar, not your username.
-
repo owner Try adding the casdebuglist macro to a page in confluence.
-
reporter The macro works:
but fisheye still is not picking up avatars:
-
repo owner If it's working coming out of Confluence, as shown by the casdebuglist macro, then the issue isn't with the plugin. The email address of users must be the same in both tools. You may have made a mistake in the fisheye gravatar configuration. Could be a network issue. Are you familiar with browser debug tools? Can you inspect the image and get the url?
Should look something like: <img src="https://server/confluence/rest/cas/1.0/avatar/server/2829568042d4b747979f8376d46a10f5?s=25&d=mm" alt="Avatar for user" width="25" height="25">
Take the url and put it in your browser and see if it works.

reporter Thanks so much for the info that it was based on the hash of the email. Due to defect https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/FE-4136, the email addresses for some of the users did not match between Confluence and Fisheye. That turned out to be the root cause of this issue, not that it does not work with Fisheye 3.7.1.
All done and will close this :)
-
reporter - changed status to resolved
Not an issue: explicitly sync users from Crowd in Fisheye to ensure email addresses are correct.

I'll need more of an explanation. I'm running the latest version(1.2.1) on Confluence 5.3 and my avatars show fine in Fisheye 3.7.1
