Hi Janos,
After spending a day with installing Piler, (linux newbie+2x vps reinstall) it's almost work like a dream. But now, i can't open any archived email for some reason.
The only thing i can see, is the <no subject> text in the viewer.

Hmm.. interesting.. no output
[root@host ~]# pilerget 4000000052b66adb27a062e4003948bb80bf [root@host ~]#

repo owner OK, now make sure that pilerget is setuid to piler:piler, and piler.conf is owned by root, and group piler, and has 640 permissions. Also check the maillog file for any sign of error. Finally, try locating the encrypted message file in /var/piler/store/00/52b/80/bf/.

So that looks good, so far. But, i haven't found the message in the folder mentioned above. There's even no folder with .../bf/ but probably it's my fault, as i've picked that pilerid from the several encrypted messages laying in the /tmp dir.
what is the path of the mentioned maillog?
-
repo owner I assume you have centos / redhat, so it's /var/log/maillog. On debian and derivatives it's /var/log/mail.log
Also please check that you have some messages under /var/piler/store/00/52b/

Hello!
Sorry for the delay.. I was sure that i have looked into the /var/log.... but obviously i haven't. So, yes, there are some weird messages in the log, and yes, there are a lot of messages in the store. Store and messages rights: 700, owner: piler/piler. Any idea? Daniel

ok, i've removed the bad line from the config but that is not the only problem. In the /var/piler/sphinx dir, the main1.sph and some other files were owned by root. I've changed them to piler. But as you see the pilerget gets the wrong path for the messages. the correct path should be /var/piler/store/00/52b/............ But the thing is, that the corrected path also unavailable... while i've experienced this issue for the first time, i did a complete clean on the database as i could find it in the faq.

repo owner it's indeed strange. I recommend to continue on skype (janos.suto), probably we can resolve this issue faster.

Hi. I hope you had a lovely christmas. I've left it as it was for the christmas time, but now i'm on it again. It's still faulty. I'm thinking on reinstalling the vm now, but it would be more helpful to find out what was the problem, wouldn't it? I've added you to my skype, btw.
Thanks, Dan

For the record. I did some mysql search, found an id, and retrieved the message successfully with pilerget on a terminal. webui still doesn't work. i mean, i couldn't even find a trace of the message i got with the command line. (last ID in the V_MESSAGES table).
ps: searchd is running.
-
repo owner hmm, that's a bit better. Searchd is running, good. Has the indexer run at all? Please check /var/piler/sphinx/main1.* files if they grow over time.
-
I'm not sure it will grow. It's just a test db at the mo. No new mails, 1-2 searches a day. But at least it's not empty.

Hello Daniel, I think there must be something wrong with pilerget. Get a piler id from the maillog (it's 400000.....3783784984 or something).
Then execute the following command (be sure to use a real piler id):
pilerget 400000.....3783784984
and show me what you got.
