piler and searchd not starting correctly under debian

Issue #455 resolved
datapharmer created an issue

After updating debian it seems there are problems with piler and searchd starting on boot/reboot. searchd does not start automatically any way I can manage to tell it to (cron, rc.local, update-rc.d). I can only get it to start via commandline after logging in post system boot. Piler on the other hand I have found running multiple instances which I have had to kill off and then launch manually as the mail was not getting processed correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is on piler version 1.1.0 build 884.

This appears to be an init problem. I removed all entries for sphinx, searchd, and piler and added them to /etc/rc.local. This seems to work fine on boot now. Any thoughts as to if this is a bad solution for some reason?
