Dear Janos,

Just wonder whether you have plan to build RPM/DEB binary packages for the latest CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu (stable) releases. It will be easier for people to try piler.

Well, actually I build deb packages when I test piler builds for ubuntu bionic. I may share them. Give me some time.

    Suggestion:

    • Publish RPM/DEB files on mailpiler website.
    • Push piler to Linux official package repos, and BSD ports tree.

This way people can easily try/install piler, it should lead to more paid clients.

I think a deb for ubuntu bionic and an rpm for centos 7 would do the trick. I'll upload them soon to the Bitbucket download area.

    Dear Janos,

Thank you very much for offering the RPM/DEB packages. Few more requests:

    • Could you add package for Debian 9 also?
    • Could you add links to website? http://www.mailpiler.org/wiki/download
    • Could you rebuild them for version 1.3.5 and use this version number instead of commit revision in package names? i saw you just tagged this new version. Awesome.
    • Instead of offering RPM/DEB packages for downloading, how about make it even better: offering official yum/apt repo directly? It's easy to build the repo with createrepo command for YUM.

"Could you add package for Debian 9 also?"

No. Actually I could, but I picked the latest ubuntu and centos releases to support only. There are zillions of linux distros (not to mention their releases), and I just can't support all of them. Eg. someone asked for suse packages in the past. However, since debian and ubuntu and close relatives, you may give it a try.

"Could you add links to website?"

    Done.

"Could you rebuild them for version 1.3.5 and use this version number instead of commit revision in package names?"

No. This how my build system produces them. I'd rather keep them as they are.

"Instead of offering RPM/DEB packages for downloading, how about make it even better: offering official yum/apt repo directly?"

    No, I won't.
