This day in my family history is not opening. It just crashes

I downloaded "this day in my family history" and paid .99 for it on itunes. I downloaded it and then tried to open it and it crashed. I restarted my device (not just put to sleep) and turned it back on still nothing. I deleted the app and installed. nothing. I shut down again and turned back on nothing. I double clicked the home button and cleared the app. Nothing. It is an ipod touch 4th. Its software is up to date. The app said that it supports iOS 6. I am connected to wifi if that matters.
