Overview

Configuration Files and Scripts for Rsnapshot Backups

This directory holds configuration file examples for the rsnapshot utility, and small shell scripts examples that can be used to set up a simple backup process (e.g. for your every-day Linux or BSD laptop).

The contents of this repository are deliberately kept simple. It should be trivial to copy the files out of this repository, apply minimal edits to them and start using them.

There are just a few subdirectories:

  • conf: Configuration file examples which are directly readable by rsnapshot. These can be copied e.g. to /etc/rsnapshot.d and adapted for local backup setups.

  • scripts: Shell script examples which drive rsnapshot with the config files from conf/. I normally copy these shell scripts at the /root/backup directory, and run them from my shell prompt or from cron jobs.
