Child items having extra space to left if Icon is not displayed

With my current requirement, I want to display + - icons for parent and no icon for children. But if there is no icon for children then it has extra padding on to the left side of the children. Please check attached image. Can you please tell how to remove extra padding?

Currently the padding is there by design for alignment purposes. I will have to make this a feature request and add the ability to omit or control the amount of padding in the absence of an icon.
