Include Content. CPU core load and traffic growth

Issue #123 resolved
Former user created an issue

We have installed Include Content on our Confluence 7.4.8 (last LTS) ~3 years ago. Up to this moment all was fine In one moment we got all 4 cores 100% load and huge network traffic growth from ~10mbps to ~40mbps Some pages with plugin macros stopped to load. When we disabled this plugin all become fine.

can you give me any insight into the setup which may have caused the issue. My best guess is the sytem got into an infinite loop with the “Include Children” macro.

@Scott Selberg You are right. We have one problem (on our opinion) page contained “Include Children”
Could you please give more info about this infinite loop? How can we fix it?
What is interesting. Last edit of this page was like a year ago

So I’m just guessing as to what is going on in your instance. I’m suspecting that somehow the macro is trying to serialize the content from a bunch of child pages and somewhere in the children there is an excerpt/include page/include shared block that is pointing back to the page with the “include children” macro. There is code to prevent that situation - so I’m suspecting there is some condition that has not been accounted for but I don’t know what.

So. We have resolved this problem.

We had a page with “include children” macro. If plugin or “include children” module is enabled, this page is can't be loaded so we cant't even check settings and body of this macro. Also we had 100% cores load.

After we deleted this macro, all become fine
