Provide a quiet option?
From Gildas: "May be a good idea to include a verbosity level, and/or the "quietly" level."
Something to think about if we move to C++ and/or provide more server-side options. Not sure it's useful for the current commandline tools, but the progress bar does clutter up the log when writing the console output to a file.
If the use case is removing log clutter from redirected output, then maybe an option to write the console log to a file without the progress bar is a more direct solution.
Maybe?

When running jobs on computer clusters, like with VDJServer, those jobs have stdout/stderr automatically piped into files by the queue system for the cluster, so generally programs are run without piping output to files to avoid managing multiple log files.

Probably not enough use cases to justify.
