distToNeareast failed on local machine too

Because it failed running on Farnam, I tried running it on my local machine (Mac).

When nproc=1, "R Session Aborted. R encountered a fatal error. The session was terminated."

When nproc>1, error with unclear traceback:

Error in unserialize(socklist[[n]]) : error reading from connection
Called from: unserialize(socklist[[n]])

Problem went away after reverting back from R 3.4.0 to R 3.3.3.
