Application cannot start with Sense 5.3

Issue #263 wontfix
Former user created an issue

Hello,

I'm new for this module, and I see that it's only for 5 or 5.5. So I'm not sure if you support 5.3, but I try anyway.

The app cannot start (xposed module active or not)

Phote is well rooted, it's a brand new HTC 626G dual

How it cannot start? Crash? You should send me logcat then. I hear about these model and Sense version for the first time :) It should work though, at least partially.

Yes i crash, telling Application "Sense 5 toolbox" was stopped, when I want to start it... ok I'll provide you a logcat soon (hopefully today or tomorrow). Thx for handling my case. If you want I can also provide you access to the device with teamviewer or whatever remote access software. Just let me know.

Here's the logcat, I think the relevant part is:

Error is similar to those on devices with uncompatible frameworks (when you try to launch Sense 6 Toolbox on Sense 5 ROM or vice versa). Maybe HTC 626G has frameworks closer to Sense 6 than to Sense 5, or 5.3 is just not compatible with frameworks that Toolbox was compiled for. Can you send me the contents of /system/framework/ folder? Also try to launch Sense 6 Toolbox, just in case :)

  5. hegyre

Well, I tried with Sense 6 toolbox, but no luck. I attach the log with Sense 6, and also the contents of the framework folder, it's about 40 MB...

There are no HTC frameworks at all, your device has different UI, but it is similar to Sense 6. Sense 5 Toolbox won't work, ever.

Sense 6 Toolbox will not work too, because it has Sense UI for ROMs with frameworks and Material for ROMs without them, but Material is Android 5.0+ only.

So, in short, you are screwed :)

I thought the framework.apk and framework2.apk would do the trick... seems not. Maybe I have to check with Mediatek framework...

Well my only hope is to push HTC in order to get Android 5.0+ on my 626G... It's an octa-core 64bit cpu, so powerfull enought to run it (but I know that some other reasons, especially commercial reasons, can delay,or even cancel any update)

I tried Xsense too, and it's not recognized, same for Wanam Kit/Xposed. I still did not tried yet GravityBox...

I can be happy anyway that there is custom CWM and TWRP recoveries, allowing me to root the phone (and make backups).

Well, I think you can close the ticket with "won't fix" status. Maybe I'll come back here once there's a android 5.0 available for my phone.

    Thanks for all anyway.
