geograph2commons - hires_url set to non-existent page

Issue #11 new
Former user created an issue

Hi. I've run into a reproducible problem where it seems geograph2commons thinks a hires image is available, but the url calculated gives a 404. To the user this appears as if geograph2commons has hung downloading the photo - no error message shown. Looking at the main.js code this seems to relate to the hires_url variable. This happens on both Mozilla & Chrome, and persisted over a number of days so doesn't seem to be an intermittent problem.

The reproducible example I have is [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Shirehampton_Public_Hall,Bristol(geograph_3281094).jpg geograph 3281094], and the 404 Hi-res URL calculated is [https://www.geograph.org.uk/reuse.php?id=3281094&download=fc395244&size=largest]. Perhaps unfortunately for debugging, I [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Shirehampton_Public_Hall,Bristol(geograph_3281094).jpg did the download] with URL2Commons to the commons name and body geograph2commons would have used, so it appears to have worked, but it didn't (luckily geograph2commons showed the correct wikitext I could paste in before apparently hanging).

Hoping this info lets you debug this problem easily when you next update geograph2commons. Thanks, User:Rwendland 16:55, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
