Region not found using coordinates

In order to highlight region specific services, GeoHack used to attempt to find the region using the coordinates, using this, as described on mediawiki.org. This capability has been no longer available for quite some time.

Also, maybe that'd be a separate bug, but could it use better quality source data for this purpose? Current coastline used as sea boundary is rather highly generalized, and territorial waters are excluded. For instance, OSM country boundaries look quite neat compared to this data. Could it OSM data instead?
