MissingTopics: # of times wanted if Template transclusions are involved

Issue #23 new

There seems to be a problem with determining the number of times a missing topic is wanted if Template transclusions are involved, but they should be ignored (“Filter out links from templates used in category pages”). More specific: if a missing topic is included in Templates, it appears less important (in terms of # wanted) or even fully unimportant under certain conditions.

I can only speculate about reasons, since I don’t known the actual code of the tool. However, I have identified these situations as potentially interesting for the problem:

(1) a Template contains a specific link more than once (blue link, i.e. existing article),

(2) and/or a missing topic is included in more than one Template and these Templates include the same (blue) link more than once.

This would mean that the tool first needs to collect all (blue) links from all Templates before removing duplicates. I speculate that at the moment the removal of duplicates is not done at all or done too early (per Template, not per all Templates).

Context: sports-related navigation templates in de-wiki. The situation outlined above with identical (blue) links in one or several Templates is occasionally unavoidable by design. If necessary, I could provide a specific example.
