Ability to update a catalog

Issue #43 new
Former user created an issue

Hello, I created the OPENVIVO catalog at wikicite hack yesterday to scrape http://openvivo.org/ for people. I tested and then submitted it. Afterwards I realized I wanted to create a description which has the ORCID identifier but can't find a method to do so.

Additionally, the catalog scraper sets the ID to an ORCID id, but when it tries to match it doesn't match to wikidata, Even though both entries have ORCID identifiers. For example see: https://tools.wmflabs.org/mix-n-match/?#/search/Lambert%20Heller?include=2029 Thanks Don Elsborg University of Colorado Boulder

I managed to find the catalog Editor, but it still doesn't allow me to add a description. I tried to have it match on the ORCID property (496) and it seems the change isn't being saved.

It is very unfortunate that not even the initial author can update an existing scraper. Oftentimes, the catalogs are created before the property is requested. That leaves many catalogs dysfunctional because the property can’t be added afterward. Also, there is no way to improve a scraper to add more details to the description or fix URLs, so there is a lot of breakage lying around. As you can’t even have read access to the scraper, you have to start from scratch when creating an improved one.

There are ‘catalog editor' permissions, but the author of this tool distributes it selectively, without any criteria; it used to be possible to edit at least your catalogues (as far as I remember)
