"Person" game is a bit pointless for de.wikipedia

Issue #138 new

The German Wikipedia is very well maintained in this regard. I have tried that game for "de" only for some time now, and I have not encountered a single person within de.wikipedia that isn't already tagged as such (or could be tagged by using the Mann/Frau categories).

The only entries that pop up and require action are those created from de.wikiquote, where obvsiously some bot created lots of new items instead of merging them with the respective de.wikipedia articles (which are linked from wikiquote, but not within interwiki links, but by normal links). For these problematic entries, the "Person" game is the wrong answer, though.

Well - its not a problem for Magnus :)

But you still can mark this items as not persons - then if this item have interwiki it will be still marked as "not a person" in other languages. So other people will have less work in their languages.

When I am checking pl.wiki I have something about 5% of persons. Probably there is a rule "smaller wiki or less links to big -> bigger number of persons".

Well, the thing is I think we could mark all these items (de.wikipedia non persons) as "non persons" automatically, without wasting people's game time.

Many times I found situations like this "automation" what you propose and there were errors.

I don't propose adding anything to Wikdiata (there is no property value "not a person" anyway), just removing useless stuff from a game.

(In general, you're right, of course, e. g. all this VIAFBot crap that ended up in Wikidata shouldn't have got there at all.)

There are some Person from dewikisource... when filtering with "de" language, they need to be marked as persons, and it's better that a german speaker does it, because he can understand the text, which "I" cannot, for ex. :)

The German Wikipedia uses the same system as Czech does. So I could say now that the person game is also a bit pointless for cswiki... but it's not true. I still find both cs and dewiki articles not marked as person.

By the way, here you have all dewiki articles in Kategorie:Mann and here in Kategorie:Frau without P31:Q5.
