Redirects aren't handled properly

Issue #99 new
Waldir Pimenta created an issue

I just came across an article whose text only showed up as "...". I went to wikipedia to check it out, and it was actually a redirect, but it still had an interwiki link to the ruwiki, so it's linked from wikidata.

I'm not sure what the best strategy would be here. Following the redirect, in this particular example, would mean the text loaded is for a different concept (a band rather than a person). But only showing "..." is not a good user experience either.

Any thoughts?

It might be best to exclude redirects from the game for the time being -- they often seem to present complex issues that perhaps are best handled outside a simple game interface.

I would agree. I've seen redirects where both the target and the source page are separately (and correctly) tied to wikidata. Loading text from the target page would in such cases be problematic and risk leading to introduced errors.
