RhodeCode crashes when using special chars in description

Issue #428 resolved
Floris Robbemont created an issue

When using special chars in the description field (like: ï), rhodecode crashes and fails to display any admin list or repo list. The only way to fix this is to logon to the server and edit the description by query.

I'm using: RhodeCode 1.3.4 with MySql 5.1.61

Please post traceback, and steps to reproduce, also does the same apply to demo.rhodecode.org ?

I'm unable to find the traceback in the log files. I had an e-mail of it but this got lost too (don't know how, have to contact our system admin).

You can reproduce this by using this char in the repo description: ë I didn't want to do this on your demo site, as this would crash everything and you had to repair it using SQL statements.

Don't mind breaking the demo, i'll fix it, but it will helps me debug if it actually is a problem.

I'm looking forward to 1.4 (pull requests would be a great feature for some of our internal projects)...

Would it be wise to first upgrade our 1.3.4 to 1.3.6 ? Or can we upgrade to 1.4 directly once it's released?
