This pull request accomplishes that. Reason being then I can develop on branch beta at the exact point where a release happens. Otherwise, it's difficult to make patches that apply only to our internal installation for a specific release without using the beta branch and supporting it entirely.

(What's happened is that there are commits only on the default branch that were never merged back it into the beta branch. I'm not sure if you meant to do this on purpose or not. If you could explain, it would help me understand.)
