Major version increment on API

I think that our recent API break with renderer won't go unnoticed. Usually, I'd increment major version in such cases according to

    When the major digit is 0, it's implicit that the public API is still under development, is unstable, and can break during any future release, even if the major digit isn't incremented. So, even though I'm a user who noticed it, it didn't bother me that the major digit was not incremented.

    It would be nice to know if there is a plan for a version 1.0 in the future that will be considered "stable." The documentation says nothing about that even though there aren't any todo's listed besides unit tests.
