Add Outfit Folders to #RLV folder

Issue #15 open
Former user created an issue

Would like the ability to place a v2 "outfit" into my #RLV folder without having to actually move the physical inventory there, since some outfits utilize items from another outfit.

That would be a very good approach to handling what is for many a messy RLV folder and ensure that forced wear really becomes complete. I am all FOR!

No problem Starfire, and thanks for submitting the issue.

I agree this would be a good idea. However this breaks the rule for the viewer to only broadcast inventory info about what is contained within #RLV, and stay silent about everything outside it. Something would have to be done just for this exception (think @getinv, @getinvworn etc). And what about outfits (in the v2 sense) that you don't want to share ?

Since you can already copy the links to an object into a different folder (if memory doesn't fail, you get a "Paste As Link" option in the context menu after setting InventoryLinks to TRUE), you can already achieve this by copying into #RLV the links to your favorite clothes that are not shared. This kinda does what you wanted already.

I was talking v2 outfits. Can you paste the link of an entire outfit by just pasting the folder or do you have to paste all items. My suggestion would be to paste an outfit folder (ie, Black Corset Dress) to the #RLV folder. In effect, everything under that folder would appear in the #RLV folder as if you moved them over, but nothing would really be moved. And because it was a voluntary add, a broadcast would only break the rule in the fact that the items aren't really there, but the user wanted them displayed. If it works this way, then in the words of Emily Litella... "NeverMind"

Yes I had understood it the "v2 outfits" sense. I don't think you can paste links to folders (I just checked, you can't "copy" a folder), so yes you'd have to paste each link, but you can do it in just one action by selecting them all, pressing "Copy", then "Paste as Link" at the destination folder (don't forget to set "InventoryLinking" to TRUE to get that menu item).

That's a compromise, but it works well enough to me.
