    You code is incorrect. The standalone environment is an internally used environment which is added automatically around the content of the page / every page in multi mode. You must not add it yourself. The manual just mentions it to allow users to redefine it for special purposes.

    If you want to create multiple pages use the multi=<environment name> class option:

    \documentclass[multi=myenv,border=2mm]{standalone}

    \begin{document}

    \begin{myenv}
      \fbox{abc}
    \end{myenv}

    \begin{myenv}
      \fbox{ijk}
    \end{myenv}

    \end{document}
