Different gestures when in split view

In addition to issue #24 it would be good to investigate whether it is possible to have the same gestures in the split view. Currently, using two-finger pan is done using one finger. When viewing the structural view two-finger pan is used.

This is quite confusing for the user and should be the same throughout the application for consistency reasons.
