hover tooltip missing windows 10

Issue #493 new
scott eggert created an issue

I have just installed Beavertail and have found that when my mouse hovers over any of the icons there is no tooltip. I keep getting the icons messed up in my head so it would be nice to have some sort of tooltip there to help me out.

This is my first time using this tool so I'm not sure if older versions operated in a similar fashion .

I'm a big fan :) Is there a way I can help out? I've had my computer lock up a few times and I'd send bug reports if I could help on the code side.

Thanks - se

Sorry! I discovered that if I click and hold in the center of the nav UI the text appears. Lovely!

Hi @scotticus_maximus, thanks for the message. Glad you could figure it out.

How did you find out about TouchCORE?

You might want to try the latest version (v7.0.0) which should resolve most problems. It also has a new navigation bar and a message view (sequence diagram) expansion.

I gave you read access to the repository, you will find it in the Downloads section of Bitbucket.

Edit: Oh, and if you are serious about helping out, please reach out to us at ram@cs.mcgill.ca :)

    Hi Matthias!

Thanks for the reply - I'm glad you're all working hard on TouchCore. I've been a developer for 20 years or so and I'm once again getting the bug to see how things are progressing in the model-driven arena. I must say your app and jUCMNav both make a lot of sense to me. I found you through several years of slogging through papers... crazy what you miss when you're not in school.

I have just started a job working at the Red Cross in DC - I'm supposed to research what's cool out there and put together an MVP of sorts. I'd love to be able to use TouchCore and be able to kick out a chatbot for them. I think the goals/features helps with the business, and the state machine in jUCMNav would be big sellers.

However - I do have a bit of an issue with the UI. It needs to be easier to type stuff in and whatnot. I should be able to upload an excel spreadsheet with everything on it and the model just pops up.

I just bought a new dell laptop with sweet screen that I can touch and move things around in TouchCore, and I must say that is very impressive.

I'd like to see what the deal is with the code generator as well. I'm looking forward to digging into that. hopefully I can help.

    Regards - se

    Hi Matthias -

I notice that I don't have access to the Commons Repository - so I can't compile the project. Can you sort out access for me?

    Thanks! scott

    Hi Scott,

sorry for the delay. That's great to hear! It would definitely also be interesting for us to know what works well and what doesn't from an industry perspective. Are you planning to also make use of the reuse "features" or are you mainly planning to use it for modelling an application?

Also, have a look on the TouchCORE website for the user guide.

If you need more information about our approach behind it in general, we would be happy to help you out. We could set up a call at some point if you want.

You can also use the keyboard and mouse to interact, maybe that will help to type stuff. But I understand that the UI can be problematic at times. We started a few years ago with a library called MT4j, unfortunately, since then it has not been further developed. Since this is a research tool most focus goes into other things than UI most of the time, unfortunately.

    Matthias
