Window won't close, hanging on "Closing: <file>"

When opening any file that is not a valid MTS 1 file, and trying to close the window or tab (Alt+F4, File menu, X, Close Tab) the status displays "Current Status: Closing <file>" and nothing happens. Only way to exit MTS IDE is to kill it with the task manager.
