Renderer Creation Error

Issue #10 resolved
Paulo Olveira created an issue

I changed my AMD video card for an Nvidia and now I can't use OpenCL. First time I opened Fractorium with the new card installed it crashed with the following message: "Could not create requested renderer, fallback CPU renderer created, see info tab for details." and a follow up saying "Error creating renderer, most likely a GPU problem. Using CPU instead."

In the info tab, this message appears: "EmberCLns::RendererCL<float,float>::Init: failed to init all devices and platforms."

The video card is working perfectly with games and such (it's a Gtx 1080)

Any idea?

First, ensure you're using the latest 1.0.0.7, the installer is on fractorium.com

If so, close Fractorium, then try deleting the file Fractorium.ini in the install folder. You might want to back it up before doing this.

Alternatively, run using the CPU then go into the Options dialog and manually select your new card. Be sure to also set it as the primary.

Let me know if this works. I test on AMD and Nvidia and it works fine.

PS: Glad to see you're still using it, it's been a while since I've seen you post on here!

Going into Options and changing it there was the fix, thanks a lot!

Yes, of course I'm still using it, it's the best fractal rendering software there is :P
