Apple Silicon Performance?

Hello! I was just wondering if there's been any testing on Apple M1 or specifically M1 Pro/Max and what kind of performance to expect. Would Fractorium be able to make use of Metal/the GPU cores in the M1 Pro/Max?

Hi Eric, I don’t have a Mac, and I don’t think they guy who makes the Mac builds for me has an M1 chip to test on.

If you know of anyone who does, perhaps you can get them to compile from source and see how it runs. I’m sure there will be some hiccups.

I plan on getting the new MacBook Pro just trying to decide between the m1 pro vs max. Once I decide and get it I'll work on compiling a native build and report back

I got my new MBP today and it seems to work with OpenCL using the “Apple Apple M1 Pro” but not the “Intel Apple M1 Pro”.

It works fine on CPU as expected.

I’m having issues building on Mac however, I’m going to open a new ticket.
