Add support for pasting CSV from clipboard

Issue #20 resolved

Hi Mike, I maintains a stand-alone tool hleofxquotes that can retrieve prices from various quote sources and can export a CSV file which can be imported into MD using your "Security Price Loader" extension.

Suggestion: make it possible to import/paste the CSV content from clipboard.

User case:

  • from hleofxquotes tool: paste current prices as CSV into clipboard
  • from your extension, paste the above CSV content
  • that will cut the intermediate steps of having to save to file then re-open that file in your extension.

I sent an email to requesting a screen dump of your utility from where the data will be copied.

Having looked at hleofxquotes I don't think it is appropriate to do this. The tool has the same issue as Moneydance, i.e. the Yahoo API no longer works.

Hi Mike Is like to add a vote for making the import of process easier now that Yahoo has been difficult. hleofxquotes works well with your loader, though every time I use it I have to choose which file to import as the loader never remembers. If I could paste the csv into the loader that would be so much easier.

I have added a button that allows you to load the file specified in the File Name field. It will also remember the last file loaded. Let me know if this is what you had in mind.

Mike thanks for adding the Load File button. Read your post talking about historical prices. Being able to import CSV files into Moneydance that contain multiple security, each with their own list of dated prices, would be a good step forward. Some time ago Hleofxquotes mentioned that he had plans to add the ability to obtain historical prices for each of the securities his program downloads. After reading your post I checked with him and its still on his agenda. He said he would be happy to format the CSV file in any way that would fit in with your plans.
