Can't download patches

When I try to download a patch it takes me to a screen of symbols and gibberish. I've got the most up to date version of patchblocks and I'm sure I managed to download patches fine previously. I've not played with them for about a year but it was fine before. Any ideas? Tested on 4 or 5 different patches. My laptop is pretty old but generally reliable. Windows7 running
