First-Block tracker

Issue #205 wontfix
Zomon333 created an issue

I had an idea for a plugin on MCO, and I was told by admin peoples that i should put the thought here, so i am.

I think it would be a neat idea for a server plugin that tracks the first block you place, and can remind you where it is with a command. This serves no real purpose besides telling you where the first areas you interacted with, which some players may not have been to in a long time, or have forgotten where they are.

I would suggest first block broken too, but that would just be a tree, or some dirt in most cases..

What do you mean by "first", first block you ever place, or first block in your given session, or what? What would be a use case for this?

I believe he just meant the first ever block you placed on the server, just to know where you started off the first time you joined.

@SlowRiot, what they mean is if a new player joins and places, lets say a cobblestone block at x=1000, y=64, z=2000, and said cobblestone block is the very first block they have ever placed down, then there should be a command that tells you where the coordinates of said cobblestone block was placed.

Rationale behind this is so that, mainly new players, can find where they first ever started building in the event they happen to teleport or die before setting home and cannot remember where they started building. This would help new players to find their homes and/or save time on having to search for where they set up.

In my opinion though, this command is pretty much pointless on a couple of counts:

    1) If a new player knows about such a command, then surely they would know about /sethome.

    2) Part of the fun of minecraft is surviving...and part of that includes having to be careful with your activities to prevent losing something.

    3) Many new players will start off running and cut down a tree and make a quick wooden sword or tool(s) which means placing a table. This would render the command moot as it would display pretty useless information.

I don't think that was the reason this was suggested at all Snappy, the reason it was was more for historic things. So older players can find the very first block they placed or where they started off, not newer players. Wouldn't you like to know what the first block you placed was on the server?

But anyway, other than that it pretty much has no use.

Oh ok then well A) I don't think the server has logs of when you placed a block for such a feature to function and B) Chances are most people just place a bench randomly to make tools...which would be very uninteresting to know where that was. Or they may have even dug a noob hole to survive a night from mobs which would mean placing dirt to cover yourself from the dangers.

There are too many variables that would make this a completely pointless command

On another note, I know exactly where I started off :) noobstatue on my wiki
