Adding a translator to the /translate command ingame for staff

Issue #222 resolved
James Dawson created an issue

The main reason for this suggested enhancement is that players cannot see what people originally said in English using the translate command. It is noted that this problem is fixed by using IRC and only IRC to prevent ingame spam. My suggestion however, is to add this to display to only staff ingame as well, as all staff speak some form of decent english, and to help prevent confusion between two staff members when translating to another language for a single player, or just so staff don't have to look at IRC to see what other staff members have said in other languages.

Is there any reason staff can't use IRC? I'm just wary of increasing in game spam for staff even further, there's a lot to deal with as is. If i were to implement this i would simply echo the translation line for everyone, it's staff in most interested in reducing spam for

On a personal note, I would prefer it over IRC mainly so I don't have to continually swap between IRC and ingame, the spam I can easily deal with, however, I may find it much more of a problem than it really is compared to other people due to my dyslexia. I think I'd be able to communicate with players better (which I need to do as a member of staff) with that. Just my two cents.

The use of translator at the moment is mainly for staff to communicate with players that show concern such as griefers in which case a single moderator/admin should be dealing with the person to avoid confusing the player. This is also a good reason to not have it translate to staff as the questioner may request fellow staff to provide some information while they are using the translator to communicate with the player

Hmm, i think staff should know not to butt in on other staff interrogations in any case; that's a discipline issue and should be addressed socially, not technically.

I don't believe that intentionally hiding some information, or parts of a conversation, from staff is productive. And I think that if staff can see it, there's no reason for everyone to see it. So I'm just going to enable echo for everyone, not just in IRC. I think that makes sense since we see both languages of the conversation when they're being translated from foreign to english as well.
