This is mostly a cherry-pick of veshboo's work. I'm very much shooting in the dark here.
The state of this branch is that it compiles but does not work at all. Help would be very much appreciated :-)
Now that I'm able to use lldb to debug, I was able to figure out the missing dispatches with mac_within_gui so this sort of works now!
