is used to provide a simple line editing interface to a program. The output of the program does not interupt the input to srw, and the input to srw is not echoed.

the arguments passed to cmd
override the default prompt (>)
write bell (^G) when there is new output (helpful if your terminal can set urgent hint on bell)
print version information and exit
delete from cursor to beginning of word
