After creating a new entry I would like to restore easily the previous highlights. Now the index is automatically pointed to the newly created entry.

Yes, the previously selected index item.

Selecting new/last edited item is a standard behaviour of the GUI, so I don't like to break that.
I see two feasible options:
- Do not select new item if Ctrl is pressed when clicking on Add/Update index entry
- Add a shortcut to go to previous item (similar to history in browsers).
