This is a screenshot of Chimosz's prototype. It is still one of the options to present the hidden text.

Isn't it from Shapes application?

The original idea was to have all the functions of djview4 supplemented both by Poliqarp client and shapes display. Only the hidden text display is relevant for the present issue, but this way is still not an ideal way - it was just relatively easy to implement.

As far as I remember there are huge problems with compiling and merging shapes sources with Poliqarp, as shapes can't use djvulibre.dll.

Thanks for reminding me what was the reason of splitting the prototype into two separate programs.

It's only one aspect of handling the hidden text, should not be treated in isolation.
