Strong red artifacts on red areas

The very strong artifacts I encounter in red areas like…

• red capes
• red lighted scenes
• red backgrounds
• red hair

…are an extreme annoyance when encoding movies to x265.

Playing around with the “CR QP Offset” setting doesn’t help much for me.
So the only working countermeasurement I’m aware of are zones - which is tedious and makes the bitrate skyrocket as sometimes just smaller parts of the whole image are affected. Typical problem: A character wearing a red Santa costume.
