README: Simple FEM codes

Nathan Collier (nathaniel.collier@gmail.com)

This repository serves as a location to store finite element codes which have been coded in class. They are intended to be as simple as possible--their use is purely educational. I believe that all students should be able to code simple 1D examples for linear, nonlinear, and time-dependent problems. We also do a simple extension to 2D to teach the isoparametric concept. After this, it is my recommendation that students learn to use FEM frameworks or even commercial software, depending on individual career aspirations. The ./current directory contains the codes we have worked on until this point. You may browse the ./previous directory to see what we have done in other classes.
