404 errors on custom domains don't work as expected

If a URL can't be routed, a 404 error is displayed. For the 404 error, the home layout (and thus controller) is used which - as opposed to the dashboard layout - contains navigation items to global pages as 'features' and 'registration'.

If such 404 error now happens for a URL of a custom domain, the global links do not work.

This happens only for top level navigation items.

Expected behavior: If we are in a custom domain, the dashboard controller should be used for error display.
