EndnoteRange element in IDML is currently unsupported.
It seems that the “EndnoteRange” that appears in my IDLM is unsuported this is why the text is not exported. Would it be possible to add it?
This is the story file which contains the EndnoteRange element.

@KONSTANTINOS CHATZITHEODOROU Do you have a sample IDML file you could attach that demonstrates the problem? It will be easier to work from a real document than a snippet.
-
reporter Hi
I will ask my company tomorrow morning and will let you know.
Konstantinos
-
Any news regarding this?
-
Could you post a sample document. It would help.
Thanks,

Info from Konstantinos : “Unfortunately, I am not good at programming and cannot do PR. However, I know that it's because of the name in the xml element. Attached you can see an IDML file and it's PDF. Whatever is with $ is okay but the text in the penultimate page is not imported.”
-
@KONSTANTINOS CHATZITHEODOROU , I have taken a look at this in the scope of @ysavourel changes and have to say that the produced related story structure has some differences:
I do not have a required InDesign version at hand at the moment to check the UI. Would you be able to clarify whether the attached roundtripped document (856.out.idml) is viewed with the same user experience (no style changes, etc)?

thank you! this is the exported file

@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , thank you for the exported PDF!
Do you think it would be possible for you to make one more export of the attached Or_T_FR_2.idml? It looks like the end notes content is different…

here you go!
thanks
-
@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , thank you very much for the export!
It seems that the styles are not the same. So, there has to be implemented another way of merging them, i.e. the existing
ParagraphStyleRange
underEndnoteRange
mustn't be present. We will probably need your help in testing and PDF exporting one more time when another solution gets ready. :)
-
sure! Happy to help or provide you with more idml files. Meanwhile, the solution that works for me is the following: I replace the EndnoteRange with
Footnote
and the problem is solved.
I cannot publish files in public but I can email you a few files so that you can check. Feel free to email me kchatzitheodorou@gmail.com
-
@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , thank you for providing important details!
As for your help, would it be possible for you to compose a simple document with just 1-2 pages where some words would be devoted to the main story and some to the endnotes?
E.g.:
The first paragraph1.
The second paragraph2.
1 An endnote for the first paragraph.
2 An endnote for the second paragraph.

Here you go!
I have created a file with two sentences and one has footnote and the other one has endnote.
In the exported file, tikal Version: 2.0.36 does not export the endnote (i.e. Endonote for sentence 2)

my tikal command is
Okapi Tikal - Localization Toolset

Extraction to Moses InlineText

@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , thank you for your help!
I would like to ask you for one more round of checks - could you please open and compare the following pairs of documents (I will attach them in my next message)
- 856-1.idml and 856-1.out.idml
- 856-2.idml and 856-2.out.idml
The endnotes styles should look like in original documents.
Also, it would be great if you export 856-1.out.idml and 856-2.out.idml to PDF and attach them to this issue.

I checked them and it seems that the 856-1 pairs are the same while the 856-2 are not the same. One footnote is missing. Can you please send me the tikal’s export (xlf or en file would work) so that I can check?

@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , thank you for your feedback! It was really helpful!
I am going to prepare XLIFFs without translations… Meanwhile, I would appreciate it if you could take another look at one more variant - 856-2a.out.idml and let me know whether its endnote styles look the same?

seems to be working now!

A solution was made available in the scope of pull request #608.

@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , thank you very much for your help!

Related pull request #608 merged.
-
thank you so much for your help and the prompt solution
-
Hi Denis
Can you tell me in which version this fix is included?
Best regards
Konstantinos
-
@Konstantinos Chatzitheodorou , the fix should be available in the current snapshots on https://oss.sonatype.org (search for “okapi-filter-idml”) and after 1.44.0 release.
Here is a direct snapshot link to jar archive (at the time of writing).
-
reporter Thank you, Denis
I will give it a try this week.
