configuration: $lang placeholder for custom.static.* includes doesn't work as expected

This works correctly only for the initial request where it renders the page with the correct i18ized content.

When switching the language during the session, the content is not replaced with the one corresponding to the new language selection. Instead, the previous one is still shown.
