Should 'type' have more specific element names, rather than reusing 'type' for different elements?

The element name ‘type’ is used in several places in the specification, and is therefore not unique and references need to be made to the higher-order element to know which ‘type’ is being referenced.

Where ‘type’ is used, would it be better to be more specific, e.g.: evidence_type, validation_type, verification_type, document_type, record_type, attestation_type, rather than using the same element name ‘type’ in each one as it does now?

Off the top of my head:

• evidence_type
• document_type

would be a breaking change for us, the others probably not.
