_try_query_return in qrscu doesn't work

Ed McDonagh created an issue

With a QR SCP that does provide Series and Study Description and number of related instances, they don't get written to the query tables.

    Removed the _try_query_return and replaced it with try except. Rolled the .strip().lower() into the original assignment. Refs #313 but needs testing.
