Weewx has heating and cooling degree day aggregate functions (refere Customization Manual appendix C) which, based on a quick look at the new testtags.txt I have, should allow all relevant tags to be populated. Are you happy with this approach Greg?

Heating and cooling degree day tags included in commit 6de272e. Parameters controlled via DegreeDays setting in skin.conf.
