Improve configuration docs

We could trim down and improve the text in the main file and add the wiki page URL.
Some of the current one-liners are a bit cryptic, e.g., "reduce string characters by
a number bigger than 10."

The configuration file can include longer text, which could be exactly the same as
the wiki.

However, the text on the wiki is also incomplete at the moment :) I started writing
an introduction, but I actually don't know what a few options do! Feel free to improve
on my text too.
